Automotive companies have realized the importance of social media and are bringing this connectivity into our cars. German luxury car maker BMW has added social networking features to its cars. There is a feature that allows you to mark your exact location and share it to your friends via e-mail. This could be very useful if you are meeting up with friends and they are lost.. Want to stay connected to the news at all times? BMW added a news feature to BMW Assist which allows drivers to receive instant access to CNN news which can be read to the driver by the system.

Ford has actually designed a car that can post to Twitter by itself. It's not for sale but it shows what you can do with technology. This auto features software that collect data such as speed, traffic, weather conditions and locations and in turn post a Twitter message with information based off of that.

Toyota is working on developing a system that will allow Toyota drivers to communicate with their cars. Yes, this network is not to communicate with other drivers but with your car. Your car will be able to send you messages and remind you when you need to replace fluids, charge the battery or visit the dealer for service and maintenance. The system is called "Toyota Friend" and will enable users to befriend their cars.

Ford is developing an application that will allow you to hear your tweets via audio while you are driving. This function will be available with Ford's future Sync system. Drivers won't be able to post tweets or messages,they will only be able to hear them.

If you frequently have passengers who love to surf the internet at all times they can now do so thinks to Ford's SYNC system which can turn any car into a real WIFI hot spot. You can easily connect your lap top and just start surfing.

Whether we like it or not, our worlds are becoming more wired than ever before. Thanks to modern technology we don't have to wait until we get home to post that all-important Tweet. We can simply pull over somewhere and post it on the spot from the comfort of our own car.
